Describe your experience, make comments, suggestions, etc:
From the most basic level, the client never crashed and I did not get disconnected from the server. Although during the POS fight one of my two characters I had there in Capital ships got de-synched and I had to warp away and then back. The POS fight for me on both accounts had little lag. I would say my modules responded within three seconds and I could "play" the game without too much fuss. Now when we talk about the "fleet fight" before the POS fight and the fight with the Titan after the POS was destroyed, those were a different story. Although my frame rate during those encounters remained playable at around ~20 with all effects on, the lag became unplayable. Citadel torpedoes were only auto firing once every three minutes or so, siege modules would not turn off after a very long time etc. The game essentially bogged down to slow motion, or about 1/10th normal speed. Although I did not crash, the game well passed what I feel was an "unplayable" threshold during the fleet fights. Considering that the fleet fight were less then 150 vs 150 players from what I could see, (which is well under 0.0 alliance blob numbers these days), the lag was disheartening. After all of the hardware upgrades and software tweaks a large fleet fight is still not playable for me.
I do not understand why the POS battle lag was far, far superior to the fleet battles unplayable lag when the numbers were around the same in total. Maybe it was because the POS force field kept all of the drones out of the equation? I am not sure, but I do know the difference was night and day. Although I did not warp away nor did any fights take place on a gate. So I do not know if emergency warping would still have ocurred on a large scale as in the past. What I do feel is that although some progress has been made with the software and the upgraded hardware, CCP still has a long way to go on the "Need For Speed" initiative to get large fleet fights playable.
